Sales Analysis Database Graph

sales analysis database

Getting an accurate picture of how well a particular product is performing or the gauging the value of a promotion can be very difficult. It’s possible to do a simple comparison of sales but much more difficult to get an accurate comparison of sales versus what would have happened without the promotion.

This database takes the raw sales data for a range of products from a number of stores and uses a set of advanced statistical functions to give meaningful results. The set of advanced functions was custom-built for the database and allows analysis that isn’t available from a standard database engine.

ftb screening database

This database screens pension scheme records against official GRO statistics. Often this data does not match exactly because of errors or omissions. The challenge is to find all the matching records without generating too many false positives.

FTB already had a database system, but it required someone to ‘manually’ sift through the results to check all the potential matches. This process could take many hours and was prone to errors.

The new database dramatically reduces the time required to accurately perform the matching process. This has been done by using a set of specially developed scoring algorithms which rate how closely the records match.

Now the user need only check the mid-scoring match results – the high scores can be automatically added to the list and the low scores can be discarded. Even the process of viewing the results has been made easier. The database displays the matching portions of the two records in green and non-matching in red so the user can quickly see if the two records are actually a matching pair.

ECS Deals Database Confirmation

ecs deals database

Enterprise Commodity Services organises transactions which require confirmation documents to be sent to both sides of the deal.

This meant creating documents in Excel, saving them as a pdf’s and then attaching them to emails whilst making sure that the messages went to the right addresses. To do this for a single transaction might take just 15 minutes, but as the number of deals grew, this was taking far too much time.

The ECS database has all the details of the brokers, clients, products and markets. Some options are selected and a few numbers are entered for each trade. The confirmations are created and emailed to all the relevant people at the click of a button. Not only does this save loads of time, it also reduces the possibility of errors.

data analysis & report generator

The database system created for Tellabs brings everything together. Raw data is imported into an Access database, charts and graphs are generated in Excel and finally Word is used to create fully formatted reports.

Tellabs produce signal processing equipment for use in telecommunications. They needed a system that could import large quantities of raw test data collected on site. This data needed to be analysed and complex calculations performed. The final reports needed to include lots of graphs to make sense of the data and Excel was used to create these. Excel also provided an environment to adjust the range, scale and format of the graphs. Finally the user needed to be able to create a finished report by simply selecting the report sections and charts required and clicking ‘OK’.

RPS Form Reader Database

rps form reader database

This application was developed for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society to enable them to capture the data from members’ registration forms. Using a minimal number of keystrokes and a hand-held barcode scanner, the application allows data from a large number of forms to be read very rapidly.

The recorded data is then turned into batch files that can easily be imported into the society’s main database. To meet the society’s tight time schedule, this application was designed, built and delivered in under three weeks.

fidelity analysts database

Developed for Fidelity Investments, this database is used to manage Fidelity’s investment analysts. Developed in Access, this system not only stores the details of the analysts but also tracks their performance and helps to organise the work that they are given.
